Early Career Forum

As part of Pushing Boarders’ commitment to fostering skater-led and innovative research on skateboarding we invited a broad range of early career scholars and practitioners to participate in a forum with senior academics, critics and respondents at our 2018 event.

The Early-Career Forum is an opportunity for scholars to present and receive feedback on their most recent work, as well as to establish collaborations with their peers. It's specifically designed to discuss what early-career researchers hope to get out of and contribute to skateboard academia, as well as to initiate a conversation on how they can make themselves visible in a niche discipline.

The forum took place on Friday 1st June 2018. The invited early career scholars were:

Panelists: Kelli Watson, Adam Hebert, Ben Rubin, Austin Li, Kirsty Smith, Matthew McDonald, Tyler Dupont, John Thurgood, Glen Wood, Cayla Delardi, Rich McHugh, Henry Edwards-Wood, Luke Cianciotto

Chairs: Dr. Brian Glenney, Prof. Iain Borden, Dr. Paul O’Connor

Invited Critics: Dr. Dani Abulhawa, Sabina Andron, Dr. Alessandro Ayuso and Dr. Oli Mould
